New Rescue Arrives!
It's here! It's here!!
Eight members left Rising Sun on Wednesday July 24, 2002 to begin their trip
to the Pierce factory in Appleton, Wisconsin. Making the trip were Rescue
Committee Chairman and Fire Chief Earl Kerchevale; President and Rescue Captain
Jim Kyte; Rescue Committee members Wesley Cameron, Aaron Haines, Tracy
Tomlinson, and Wade Wiley; and Engineers Charlie Cameron and Charlie Goodie.
They arrived about 15 hours later, and after a short rest began the task of
the final inspection on the latest edition to the firefighting fleet. They
found most everything in order, with only a few minor items to change, and a few
enhancements to make. The Pierce workers are top notch, and set to work
immediately. The group started back with the new
Rescue 871 early Saturday and arrived
in Rising Sun about 3am Sunday morning.
There is still much work to be done before the unit is placed in service, as
